Southeastern Arizona is the #1 rated birding hotspot and favorite
destination to see birds according to readers of Birder’s World, October
2002. For more Birding information in our
area, contact the Southeastern Arizona Bird Observatory about their Birding
and Natural History Programs. Also of
interest is the San Pedro Riparian Area. Both the Willcox
Playa and Whitewater Draw in Sulphur
Springs Valley are fabulous places to view the many thousands of Sandhill
Cranes during winter months, especially Dec., Jan & Feb. For a map of 50
birding hotspots see www.seazbirding.com
Southern Arizona also has more than
250 species of butterflies with 333 species in the state. For more
information about public butterfly gardens and SEABO (SE Arizona Butterfly
Association ) activities such as regularly scheduled, guided field trips
contact SEABO.
